TV’s Apprentice hires ‘amazing space’
It was a case of ‘you’re hired’ not ‘you’re fired’ when location agency Amazing Space was taken on to provide the house for this year’s The Apprentice contestants.
After looking at over 100 properties for the BBC TV series, 52 Bedford Square was selected for its size, location and obvious ‘Wow!’ factor. A five storey Georgian townhouse with interconnecting Mews property, it was ideal for the contestants’ discreet early morning getaways and late night returns.
The 9,750 sq ft pile features fabulous state-of-the-art spacious recreation areas, a 48ft drawing room and hi-spec interiors. And it’s currently on show weekly, until December on The Apprentice, Wednesdays, BBC One at 9pm.
52 Bedford Square was also the venue for the launch of Amazing Space’s ‘The Venue Collection’ with Rouge Events, an exclusive portfolio of specially selected event spaces, expertly managed and promoted to the creative events industry on behalf of property owners.
Amazing Space has been one of the BBC’s preferred suppliers since the 1990s. This year’s Apprentice house was scouted by the Amazing Space team in an ‘Apprentice-style’ contest in 2007. Staff were divided into two teams before heading off in search of the perfect property for filming, photography and events, with the winners being treated to a night out at a top London restaurant. Fortunately, the losers were spared the usual dressing down from Lord Sugar…
The owner of 52 Bedford Square was happy for the house to be registered in Amazing Space’s location library. She had been having a traumatic time with a rather high maintenance tenant, who had even let 400 white rabbits loose in the house at their twin daughters’ birthday party.
“Letting the house to Amazing Space for The Apprentice was a much less stressful experience for the owners, who eventually sold the house in July this year, explained Jonny Levy, Head of Agency, who negotiated and managed the project.
