The Hollies Day Nursery named 'Best in Wales'

Staff and children at a Cardiff nursery are celebrating, after parents voted it the best in Wales.

The newly expanded Hollies Day Nursery was named the regional winner for Wales, at the prestigious National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) Nursery of the Year Awards.

The awards, which are exclusively voted for by parents, also saw the nursery receive £400 to spend on educational resources, from Hope Education.

Proprietor and Manager of The Hollies Day Nursery, Lisa Cronk, said: “Continuing to offer a first-class service, and ultimately providing the very best start for all children within our care, has always been central to our philosophy.

“I would like to thank our highly motivated, experienced staffing team, for the high standards they sustain daily, and especially our parents, for their comments, which enabled us to achieve this award”, she added.

The nursery, which extended its provision by 66%, to offer 101 places this month, was said to be an environment designed to help children flourish and learn.

“As our existing provision expands from June of this year, what better start could we ask for than to receive The NDNA National Day Nursery of the Year Award for Wales!” added Lisa.

Judges commended the nursery's attitude towards nutrition, and the way it ensured children with special dietary requirements enjoyed similar meals to their peers.  They also singled out the way that The Hollies encouraged children to learn about healthy eating through fun activities, such as baking bread.
