Tee-riffic Performance at Charity Golf Day

Cheshire businesses showed their iron when they turned out for the second annual Bell Meadow Charity Golf Day.

Golfers faced brisk winds and fleeing balls as they competed to raise vital funds for the Saltney-based MS Support Centre. However, the weather didn't stop play, with a strong turnout on the day.

Neil Kemsley, Chairman of the MS Support Centre said: “Fourteen teams turned out to play a game of “Texas Scramble” golf in challenging and very windy conditions, which made positioning the balls on the Green interesting to say the least!

The winning team was i7, who beat teams from Bell Meadows, AGS Security Systems, SBS Design, Walker Smith Way, Brymau Estates, Real Earth, Catton Hall Shooting Ground, Jason Howard Photography, ARQ Design, St Annes Contractors and Aaron and Partners.

The day, which included refreshments on arrival in the morning, plus a three-course dinner, raffle and prize-giving event in the evening, raised £2,400 for the charity, more than 50 per cent higher last year's total of £1,500.

The funds are a lifeline to the charity, which provides support to people with a neurological condition and their carers. The MS Support Centre receives no automatic statutory funding, and around 80 per cent of its backing comes from fundraising activities like the golf day.

Mr Kemsley said: “We would also like to thank all our sponsors and everyone who donated a raffle prize, but especially to Stuart Cranfield at Bell Meadows, Ross Johnson at Thomas Cole, Seamus Wild at Charles Stanley and Jonathan Turner at AGS Security Systems and of course Helsby Golf Club for making the day a success.”
