Sutton Charity Golf Tournament Set to Raise Thousands
The Rotary Club of Sutton Coldfield is gearing up for its seventh annual golf tournament, which raised almost £5,000 for local charities last year.
The golf competition, which is being held at Moor Hall Golf Club on May 16, is set to raise even more money this year after receiving much interest from the local community.
Cookes Furniture, based in Erdington, has agreed to sponsor the tournament for a second year, to allow all the money raised from the competition to be distributed to local charities.
A maximum of 20 teams can participate in the tournament, with all paying £285 to enter. Already the initial 20 teams containing four players in each have been filled. The Rotary Club is now allowing a few more teams to participate in the annual Golf Day after receiving significant interest in the tournament.
David Cox, Director of Cookes Furniture said: “We are delighted to be once again sponsoring this golfing event, and we hope to raise even more money for local charities."
The Rotary Club is planning to draw in extra cash by charging a small entrance fee and hosting a raffle and auction in the evening.
The 2011 Golf Day, sponsored by Cookes Furniture, raised a considerable amount of money that was shared amongst local charities, which included Dogs for the Disabled, St Giles Hospice and Sutton Coldfield Cancer Care - with all receiving between £100 and £500.
Fundraising Manager at The Rotary Club Sutton Coldfield, Zoe Martin, said: "Our charity work is so important to the local community.
"From taking children with learning difficulties to Drayton Manor for the day, to hosting a Golf Day; The Rotary Club really puts the effort in to making a difference, and none of this would be possible without the support from local businesses such as Cookes Furniture who have kindly contributed to our Golf Day," added Zoe.
