Support is Just the Ticket for MS Centre

An ambitious plan to boost the vital work of the Saltney-based MS Support Centre has received a welcome cash injection from local stores.

Currys PC World Megastore in Sealand have contributed £2,500 to the Centre’s ‘Next Step’ appeal, which is aiming to raise a total of £25,000 between April and July this year.

The cash will be used to support the recent expansion of the Multiple Sclerosis Support Centre, so that more people will be able to use the crucial facilities.

The Next Step Appeal was launched on Good Friday, at the Currys PC World store, where staff have been raising cash and selling raffle tickets for the campaign.

The project has now been joined by Morrisons supermarket in Saltney, where staff were selling raffle tickets on May 19th and 20th. Prizes in the raffle included computers, TV’s, camcorders and holidays.

The MS Support Centre is hoping to buy technical equipment for its extension, which will allow the service to support people and carers of those with neurological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and ME.

The centre focuses on self-help, with the aim of empowering its members to gain control over their conditions, rather than letting the conditions control them.

Jane Johnston-Cree, Centre Manager and head physiotherapist at the MS Support Centre, explained:

“The main strength of our organisation lies in the fact that all our services are provided by fully qualified physio’s and healthcare professionals. This means that not only do we help people to improve physically, but also to regain control over their life.

“The money raised through the Next Step Appeal will mean we can provide more services, and support more people with a neurological condition”, she added.

Anyone interested in helping the centre make the Next Step can call 01244 678619, or visit Morrisons in Saltney this Thursday and Friday to buy tickets.
