Solihull pub to host charity firewalk

A local pub is looking for brave volunteers for a sponsored charity fire walk.

The Sharmans Cross, Solihull, is raising money for KIDS charity by holding a sponsored fire walk.

So far, only 15 brave souls have signed up to tread the hot coals, but they are not only looking for more people to take part, managers Alison and Scott Foster are also hoping to get the local Fire Brigade on board!

A minimum sponsorship fee of £50 covers costs with any further sponsorship raised going directly to the charity.

The facilities are provided by Blaze Firewalking who will be doing a two hour 'pump up session' for all participants. This will build up their confidence and is intended to empower them to do the walk.

"We're trying to do as many new things at the pub as possible and fire walking seemed like a great idea," said Alison Foster, manager at Sharman's Cross. "If nothing else, it's a great way to warm up!"

For non fire walkers the pub is also holding a luau evening with salsa music, raffles. limbos and darts - all raising further funds for the charity. The event will begin at 4pm on 20 November, with the fire walk happening at 6pm.
