Solar Specialist Lights the Way in Combined Installations

A sustainable energy business in the West Midlands is celebrating the installation of one of the first photovoltaic thermal (PVT) systems in the UK.

The installation, completed by Kidderminster-based Eco2Solar at a detached property in the Cotswolds, utilised 14 ‘Anaf Solar’ panels, which harness advanced technology to combine solar PV and solar thermal energy generation.

Eco2Solar Managing Director, Paul Hutchens, commented: “We always strive to be at the forefront of technology and are keen to pioneer new, proven technology.”

The panels, which were installed at the rear of the Gloucestershire property, include a 3.22kWp system, which is expected to produce 2,764 kWh of electricity for the household annually, on top of the solar thermal contribution.

This will result in an annual tax-free income of £1,196 for the householder, backed by the government’s Feed in Tariff Scheme.

Andrew Hanson, project manager for Encraft, which designed the system, commented: “It was an exciting opportunity to get involved with this new technology and Eco2Solar delivered the project in a timely, professional manner. The quality of their work was very high.”

The panels outperform existing brands in solar PV efficiency and also provide up to 50 per cent of the household’s hot water requirements, as well as contributing to the heating of a swimming pool at the property.

The technology built into these panels means available roof space can be maximised to produce two forms of energy that significantly reduce a property’s energy bills and carbon footprint.
