Silverstone Summit to put Businesses in the Driving Seat

The Summit begins with a high-level panel debate with leading representatives from the British Chambers of Commerce, Federation of Small Business and the Bank of England discussing how the UK will harness globalisation to drive economic recovery.

This will be followed by workshops combining speakers from large scale corporate businesses as well as SME’s to give the audience a range of perspectives on common business issues.

Among the keynote speakers are Isaac Sheps, CEO of Carlsberg UK and Camille Ortega McLean, founder of Pickled Village, the award-winning producer of quirky preserves, dressings and marinades. Together, they will address a workshop entitled ‘The Art of Powerful Branding’.

The event is hosted by Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP), Federation of Small Business, British Chambers of Commerce, Institute of Directors, University of Northampton, Business Link and Northamptonshire County Council.

Paul Southworth, NEP chairman, commented: “Northamptonshire is home to many businesses that are household names, and has a strong base of small and medium-sized companies across sectors as diverse as performance engineering and clean technologies."

“NEP is supporting a number of initiatives that encourage entrepreneurship, helping local businesses to sell their way to success in the current challenging economic climate. NEP works with and supports businesses and business networks as part of an overarching strategy to underpin economic growth in the county.

Mr Southworth added: “Business events are a great vehicle to offer support and build networks, and this is increasingly important in the current climate. The seminars address serious issues relevant to business, while offering practical advice such as Alternative Routes to Finance in a Challenging Climate, and the Importance of Innovating in a Changing Market Place.”

The day will conclude with a keynote speech from Richard Noble OBE, former world speed record holder and leader of the Thrust SSC and Bloodhound project. Guests will also have the opportunity to take a private tour of Silverstone’s motor racing pit and paddock complex at the end of the day.
