Sara’s Serves Up Certified Halal
Making sure meat served for UK Muslims meets strict religious guidelines has not always been easy to guarantee, particularly when buying online.
But now, Muslims living in the UK have a certified online store: www.saras.co.uk they can use to buy Halal meat in confidence. Sara's Halal Foods, based in Blackburn, has been granted a certificate by the UK’s Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC).
Sara’s, founded in 2000, is now the only HMC certified online store providing Halal food, prepared by a team of Muslim butchers, trained to adhere to the most stringent hygiene, and religious requirements.
Sara's offers a comprehensive selection of over 150 products, ranging from fresh chicken cuts to pies, and burgers to biltong. These foods can be delivered to any UK destination, including Northern Ireland and Isle of Man territories.
Mr Faruk Vali, Director of Sara’s Halal Foods, said: “We are delighted to be the first ever online store in the UK to be awarded this prestigious certification. The Muslim community in the UK can confidently go online to buy genuine Halal meat from Sara’s.”
“During this special month of Ramadan, where the food eaten to break the fast takes on special significance, we are delighted to have secured the HMC certification for Sara’s. Now, Muslims can buy online, with the reassurance that their meat has passed the Halal Gold Standard.”
Muslims in the UK have for many years expressed deep concerns as to the authenticity of Halal meat and poultry supplies, due to the excessive deception and false labelling of Halal in the industry.
HMC was born out of this concern, and aims to provide assurance that people are eating genuine Halal foods. HMC has been set up to work in the favour of all Muslims; consumers, retailers and suppliers.
The HMC, established in 2003, is a non-profit making organisation, which monitors, inspects and certifies Halal products, in particular the Halal meat and poultry sector (www.halalmc.co.uk).
HMC regulates and inspects Halal products from their source, up until they reach the consumer. This is done by means of thorough, continuous checks, labelling and sealing of these consumables by HMC trained inspectors.
