Ring O’ Bell for Chester’s pub success

Chester’s flagship pub is proving that appearance is everything, after seeing profits soar to record highs, since it’s refurbishment during the economic downturn.

The Ring O’ Bells, which was looking a bit gloomy and run down, has been given a magnificent makeover, after owners Trust Inns and Modern British Taverns, commissioned Birmingham-based Spencer Swinden Design, to carry out the refurbishment.

The popular pub has gone on to scoop the prestigious award of Chester Pub Of The Year, after teaming up with the top interior designers, who gave the watering hole a fantastic makeover.

The Ring O' Bells, situated in Chester’s ‘best kept village,’ Christleton, recently scooped the prestigious award in the ‘Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Awards 2011.’

Since the makeover, customer turnover has increased and profits have soared, resulting in the pub winning the fantastic local award.

Spencer Swinden Design has redesigned both the interior and exterior of the pub. This has focused on enhancing the existing period details, whilst introducing a contrasting vibrant colour palette.

The exterior of the pub has been turned into a multi-purpose garden space suitable for use as an alfresco dining terrace and a decked sun trap.  There is a family lawn with picnic tables and a children’s play area.

Melony Spencer, Director for Spencer Swinden Design said: “We have created a welcoming atmosphere which appeals to locals as well as families and passing motorists. We are proud to play our part in helping the Ring O' Bells win the desirable award.”
