REMAPPING CALLS THE TUNE ON REDUCED FUEL BILLS
MOTORISTS being driven crazy by rocketing petrol prices are getting re-routed by a firm on a mission to cut the cost of your tank of fuel.
Staffordshire-based Rapid Remap is offering cash-strapped drivers a way to reduce the growing cost of refueling their vehicles, irrespective of whether they use them for business or pleasure.
The company, which has its workshop in Cannock, claims that customers can save between 13p and 26p a litre in fuel costs, by getting their vehicle’s engine remapped.
Remapping, also known as ECU remapping, uses modern technology to reprograme a vehicle’s engine management software. The process enables optimal settings for increased miles per gallon (MPG) and also delivers improvements in a vehicle’s responsiveness and performance - such as, smoother acceleration and improved towing capability.
One of the most common questions people ask about remapping is; why manufacturers don’t carry out this procedure?
Mike Walton, Managing Director of Rapid Remap, explains:
“Naturally, people expect vehicles to leave the factory setup to deliver the best performance and efficiency possible - in fact, they are not. As vehicles are supplied to different markets all over the world, manufacturers provide a one-size-fits-all solution, in an effort to keep down costs.”
Choosing a company to do your remapping may seem daunting but Rapid Remap treats each case individually, offering its customers a professional, bespoke service.
Paul Barnes, of 5 Star Taxis, was delighted with the effect Remapping had on his company:
“Most of the firm’s vehicles clock up an average of more than 100,000 miles each year. The business has an enormous fuel bill.
Once we got the vehicles ECU remapped by Rapid Remap, we found that not only were we saving around 15% on fuel costs, but it has made our cars so much more enjoyable to drive.”
