Put Your Personality On The Wall Says Zazous Founder
A new trend in wall décor has been launched by fresh and dynamic online retailer, Zazous.
Wallpaper from Wall & Deco by Italian designer, Gio Pagani is intended to move room decoration away from the concept of traditional domestic wallpaper, to allow customers to create a bold visual statement that reflects their own personality and ideas.
Declared, Kate Austin, owner of Zazous, “In introducing Gio Pagani designs, Zazous heralds the beginning of a new trend, a visual and stylistic experiment.
“Pagani subverts the traditional concept of wallpaper, turning an old domestic decoration into an explosive expression of creativity. He departs from the use of endlessly repeating motifs to create one image of grand dimensions across the entire surface of a wall.
“These edgy, bold and fashion inspired designs speak of faded but sultry glamour. From the damasked texture of the walls emerge imposing figures of icons of our times. The worlds of fashion and film feature strongly, creating theatrical backdrops that allude to modern art. In line with the current trend for all that is bespoke and customised, each design is printed on demand to fit the exact dimensions of the client's wall. Here is an opportunity for all of us to imprint our own personalities in our homes. Boredom is not an option this year on the walls of Britain.
Kate Austin has launched her new company, from a base in Kent, after a career in the theatre. She brings a love of film and a passion for interior design to her work and a determination to introduce drama to the interiors of British homes.
Zazous also sells the full range of high quality Wall & Deco wallpapers that are hand made in Italy, as well as modern large scale wall decals from around the world.
Customers send their wall dimensions to Zazous and receive a simulated scale visualisation of the chosen wallpaper. The order then takes around three weeks to be delivered from Italy. The wallpaper costs £75 per square metre.
Kate chose the name of her company in tribute to Les Zazous, an avante garde group of young men and women who lived in Paris during the Second World War. They dressed in a larger than life style, loved swing music and were anti-fascist.
“I love great modern design and I enjoy sourcing products that are striking and unique. I plan to expand into all areas of home furnishings in the future, inspired by the memory of Les Zazous,” said Kate.
