PENSIONER DOROTHY SWAPS LBS FOR POUNDS
Super slimmer Dorothy Pattinson, aged 75 from Darlington, is celebrating after being crowned the winner of a regional weight loss challenge.
Dorothy, who says she feels ’15 years younger’, has lost over 18lbs and 13 inches to win a cash prize and become the winner of the ‘Arriba! Community Weight Loss Challenge.’
During the 12 week challenge, participants were taught about the different aspects of nutrition relating to weight loss and one-to-one appointments to discuss specific diet concerns were also available.
Weight loss was monitored through a weekly weigh at the club’s informal and friendly setting. As well as measuring weight, body fat percentage and hydration, metabolic age was monitored over the weeks, with participants able to see their statistics as they improved.
Dorothy, whose metabolic age has reduced to 60 as a result of the challenge, said: “I’m delighted to have won and I feel much fitter and happier. I’ve tried all the main slimming clubs over the years but found the Arriba! Club offered me the education, motivation and support I needed to succeed.”
The Darlington-based challenge was organised by qualified fitness instructor Emma Campbell-Critchley, who has over 15 years experience of helping people lose weight, and Susan Spinks, owner and manager of First Step 2 Fitness gym.
Emma Campbell-Critchley, Arriba! Darlington club leader, said: “Our unique mix of education and motivation, with the added incentive of winning a cash prize is providing Darlington slimmer’s with the push they need to get motivated, and a weight loss solution that really works. Participants have successfully lost weight, but importantly improved their health and made some new friends along the way, which is lovely to see.”
Sue Spinks added: “I am living proof that the Arriba! Challenge works, as I have lost 3 stone myself following its principles. It is by far the easiest way to lose weight – and believe me I have tried them all!”
