New vehicle helps drive IWJS’ powerful growth
Industrial cleaning and waste management business IWJS has taken delivery of a new JHL Flexline 312 vehicle that clears drains, removes sludge and carries out water jetting work.
The investment in the state-of-the-art vehicle is part of a dynamic growth strategy that has seen IWJS (Industrial Water Jetting Systems) acquire DSS Environmental and Aquajet GB in recent months.
Commenting on the delivery of the new unit, Christopher Stewart, group Managing Director, said: “We see this major investment as the keeping of a promise. We have made commitments to our customers to deliver a high quality and reliable service and this new Flexline unit is part of a package of measures to achieve that.”
Based at Woolpit near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, the IWJS Group is a top ten national provider of services to water utilities, construction companies, industry and domestic users.
The new Flexline unit is modelled on a Mercedes Benz chassis. The Flexline has a large 125mm diameter suction hose, a 140bar jetting unit with a choice of hoses and a 12m3 capacity tank. This features a moveable internal wall to allow the transportation of clean water, as well as the sludge waste, and all operations are PLC controlled.
While Flexlines are already used in IWJS’s 160-strong fleet, several improvements have been made to increase this particular vehicle’s versatility. A bespoke 11,800 psi high pressure jetting unit – five times more powerful than normal – has been specified, capable of concrete cutting and hydro-blasting, in addition to the pumping of waste streams.
IWJS staff attended a training session, run by JHL, to familiarise themselves with the operation of the vehicle. High pressure jetting can be a hazardous operation and all operators have to be qualified to use this equipment.
IWJS runs its own training school and is a full member of the Water Jetting Association, which ensures best practices are maintained.
