New ultra-fast broadband available to businesses in the North West
A Manchester-based IT systems provider has announced the launch of its ‘Fibre to the Cabinet’ service for businesses in the North West this October.
The new, high speed broadband, allows Computerised Business Systems Ltd (CBS) to offer its clients download speeds of up to 40Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10Mbps.
BT is currently investing heavily in the UK ‘Fibre to the Cabinet’ (FTTC) infrastructure, with plans in place to link all of its street-side ‘green street cabinets’ by fibre optic cable over the next few years. The last “mile” from the street-side cabinet to the business premises will, for now, remain copper cable, but there are already plans to replace this with ‘Fibre to the Premises’ in the near future.
Andy Thompson, Technical Director of CBS said: “Just as broadband revolutionised internet access a few years ago, fibre optic broadband is set to completely revolutionise the industry again by vastly increasing speeds and capacity for extra services. Businesses on fibre optic broadband can benefit from leased-line speeds at ADSL broadband prices.”
‘Fibre to the cabinet’ is not currently available from all exchanges, but its availability is rapidly increasing. To find out which North West exchanges are currently able to offer the service, visit the CBS website at: http://www.cbsys.net/fttc
Where fibre optic services are not currently available, CBS can still provide ADSL2 and ‘Annex M’ broadband, which offer up to 20Mbps download and 2Mbps upload speeds on uncongested, business-users only broadband networks.
