New-look restuarant is Chinese to a 'tea'.

A CHINESE restaurant has been transformed following an extensive makeover.

Green Tea Restaurant, in Burton Road, West Didsbury, now has a contemporary decor to reflect the owners' Chinese roots and a new healthy-option menu devised with a body planner and nutritionist.

The popular restaurant was opened by accountant Jenny Cui in 2008. Last year her best friend, quantity surveyor Xiaona Liu, was invited to join the restaurant with the aim of growing the business.

They wanted to build a brand that reflected their passion for North Eastern Chinese cuisine and have recently refurbished the restaurant to compliment their Chinese roots.

The new look is based on the colour of Maple leaves and the choice of lighting reflects the beautiful water caves which are a famous attraction in their hometown of BenXi.

More than 80 people - mostly friends and suppliers involved in the relaunch - were treated to a buffet, free drinks and a guided tour of the premises at a special relaunch party last Friday (22).

Jenny, who was inspired by her grandmother's cooking, overseas the kitchen, while Xiaona is in charge of the front of house, making sure customers are happy with the food and service.
