MS Support Centre increases opening hours in 2011
The Saltney-based Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Centre is increasing its opening hours so that it can support more people with MS and other neurological conditions.
As the Centre comes to the end of its 25th year, it can look back on its achievements with some pride. Having started off in a single industrial unit offering oxygen therapy to people with MS, the centre has grown both in size and in the range of services it provides to its members, now welcoming new members with MS, Parkinson’s and some other neurological conditions.
The charity is committed to providing Physiotherapy as well as a range of treatments and exercise classes that help to maintain health and wellbeing, provided by qualified professionals with many years experience of working in this field.
Throughout 2010, to celebrate its 25th Anniversary, the MS Support Centre has held a number of events to both increase awareness of neurological conditions, and to raise funds, which has brought in an additional £30,000 of funding.
This means that from January 2011, in addition to the current opening times on Monday through to Thursday and Saturday morning, the MS Support Centre will be open every Friday and will be developing a range of services aimed at people who are newly diagnosed or have work-based issues due to their condition.
Commenting on the development of the Centre, Trustee Neil Kemsley said:
"The way the Centre has developed is testament to the grit and determination of the members themselves who have taken the attitude that without self-help, their symptoms would go untreated. They are the heroes of the last 25 years and our increased opening hours will ensure that we can help even more people in 2011."
