MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN SIDCUP: NEW BUILDERS' MERCHANT CREATES 50 JOBS AND DONATES £1,000 TO LOCAL SCOUT GROUP

A builders' merchant marked the opening of a new outlet in Sidcup by throwing its support behind the local scout group, presenting it with £1,000 and the materials to renovate the scouts’ meeting hall.

Selco, which supplies the building trade with materials, opened a branch off Sandy Lane in Sidcup on July 13th, creating 50 news jobs in the area.

The company’s aim is to support local tradesmen and the community, so its first task was to present the cheque to Reece Davis, the Assistant District Commissioner for the Chislehurst and Sidcup Scout Association to help renovations at 3rd St Paul’s Cray Scout Group.

Ross Sandy, branch manager, said that the launch had been a big success, with more than 250 customers visiting the store.

“This is the 28th Selco branch to open, and we chose the location because it was so close to all the main commuter links in the area. The feedback has been great – tradesmen in the region are really pleased that the convenience will help give their customers an improved service.
