Looking After Your Most Important Asset
A social enterprise dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing and addressing health inequalities, today announces the launch of a new service for employers.
Birmingham-based Health Exchange’s ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ service enables employers to take advantage of the health promotion services it already provides to people living in the West Midlands area. The aim is to allow business owners and managers to offer their employees the ability to access essential information and services about health and wellbeing, from the workplace.
“Naturally, employers want their workforce to maintain a healthy lifestyle, for the benefits this will bring, in terms of healthier happier staff, greater productivity and reduced sickness absence,” said Graham Beaumont, Health Exchange CEO.
“Our Workplace Wellbeing service gives businesses the opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles to their employees, for mutual benefit”, he added.
The range of services available includes health-monitoring checks, provision of health information and signposting, group exercise activities, and services to help motivate people to make lifestyle changes for improved health, or to better manage an existing long-term condition.
“Our Workplace Wellbeing service is intended to pre-emptively educate employees about their health and encourage them to adopt healthier lifestyles. The objective is to raise the general level of health and wellbeing in the workplace”, said Patrick McCormick, Health Exchange’s Partner Relations Manager.
The launch of the new service comes in the wake of a recent study, which found that 87.5% of workplace sickness claims arose from unhealthy aspects of individual’s lifestyles, rather than from causes arising within the workplace.
“Increasingly, employers recognise the business and social importance of encouraging employees to be aware of and take control of their health and wellbeing. Many have concluded that they can’t afford not to invest in prioritising the health of their employees”, concluded Mr McCormick.
