LONG HAUL JOURNEY ASSISTED BY REDWEB TRACKER
RedWeb Technologies, the leading provider of advanced tagging and GPS tracking systems, has supplied a solution to help out amateur radio enthusiasts planning an international expedition.
The RX11 tracker has been fitted to a container shipping £125,000 worth of specialist radio equipment to Christmas Island in Eastern Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean.
The container, which is transporting equipment including antennae, electronics, radios and generators, has already begun its journey to the island, even though the event doesn’t begin until September.
The expedition to the island has been organised by the Five Star DXers Association (FSDXA).
The event will run for a month between September and October 2011, during which time the FSDXA hopes to make over 150,000 contacts with 40,000 different amateur radio stations from around the world and regain some of its previously held world records.
Neville Cheadle of the Five Star DXers Association (FSDXA), said: “It is vital to know where the container is, as being in constant contact with people thousands of miles away is difficult. The RX11 installed easily and works like a dream. The online tracking is fantastic.”
The RX11 tracker is easily fitted to standard containers with a locking mechanism. It has a dual function: container lock and GPS tracker. The RX11 can track a container for up to 12 months.
