Lights! Camera! Action! at Deer Park Estate

An historic Worcestershire estate has become the star of the show on two hit television programmes this July.

Deer Park Estate, in Eckington, Pershore, home to the Deer Park Hall conference and wedding venue, took centre stage on BBC shows, Songs of Praise and Countryfile, which aired this month.

The producers of the shows were keen to show rural diversification across the county of Worcestershire, and the Deer Park Estate was the ideal location.

Adam Henson, presenter on BBC Countryfile, visited the estate on June 28th, to interview Mark Steele, who has the key role of animal farming at the estate. Deer Park Estate focuses on the farming of special breeds, such as Hereford cattle, Easy Care sheep and its namesake deer.

Countryfile’s filming focused primarily on a new breed of Easy Care sheep, harking back to a more natural and traditional way of farming, in-keeping with the estate’s organic ethos.

Songs of Praise was keen to expose the tranquillity and harmony of the estate and its conference venue, during its earlier filming visit on June 9th. The show’s presenter, Diane Louise Jordan, thought the venue was beautiful and was blown away by the views.

Caron Steele, co-Director at the estate, took the opportunity to get involved in the filming, and gave a reading for the show. More than one million people tuned in to see the episode, which aired on July 10th, while the estate will appear on Countryfile later in the month (31st).

“It was a fantastic experience having the BBC filming here at Deer Park. We are very proud of our beautiful Grade II listed buildings and the grounds, so it’s marvellous to have had the opportunity to share these with the public on such a grand scale”, said Mrs Steele.
