Laughter is the best medicine
Comedy heavyweights have teamed up to promote a decade of better health in Nottingham.
Real Deal Comedy Jam and Kemet FM have joined forces with the Decade of Better Health Programme as part of its drive to improve the health of residents in Nottingham.
The Decade of Better Health Programme has been developed by NHS Nottingham City and Nottingham City Council to make Nottingham a healthier and happier city over the next decade by tackling some of its biggest health challenges.
Thousands of city residents have already pledged to make a positive change to help live longer, happier and healthier lives but more are needed to help reach the 10,000 milestone.
Andrew Hall, Head of Partnerships at NHS Nottingham City said:
“We are really excited to be teaming up with Real Deal Comedy Jam and Kemet FM; it presents us with an opportunity to use humour to get across key health messages. It is important for us to explore innovative and creative opportunities that will help Nottingham to become a healthier and happier city.”
Local residents are also being called upon to get involved and support the programme by becoming Decade of Better Health ‘Champions’, who will work with others in the community to think of new, fun and creative ways to encourage people to take small steps in improving their health.
Anyone expressing an interest to become a ‘Community Champion’ will be entered into a free prize draw to win three pairs of tickets for the Real Deal Comedy Jam ‘Valentine’s Tour’ in February 2011.
Kemet FM will be broadcasting key messages and competitions for the Decade of Better Health Programme throughout January, in an attempt to reach out to its wide and varied audience and encourage them to get involved.
Citizens can call 0115 8839269 or visit www.decadeofbetterhealth.com to find out more or make a pledge.
