IWJS continues to grow with acquisition of Aquajet (GB) Limited

The IWJS group now consists of three specialist waste management companies, Industrial Water Jetting Systems Limited, DSS Environmental Limited and Aquajet (GB) Limited.

This places the IWJS Group firmly within the top ten waste management companies in the UK with a combined turnover in excess of £21m and employing over 275 staff.

Christopher Stewart, Group Managing Director, sees this latest move as great news for the group and clients alike.

Aquajet have specialist skills in the survey and remediation of canal and river watercourses, including tidal stretches, and will continue to operate from their two existing depots.

Investment continues
It has been a busy year for IWJS as it was only in August 2011 that DSS Environmental became part of the group. Very quickly the expanded depot structure has improved vehicle and equipment management response times to the groups’ clients.
DSS Environmental has added expertise in sewer rehabilitation and GPR location & mapping to complete the package of IWJS services available.

To support the two acquisitions the IWJS group has invested a further £4m in vehicles, equipment and staff.
New specialist vehicles have been arriving at the depots across the country and immediately scheduled to contracts, including fully equipped CCTV survey vans, JHL Recycling combination units, tankers and sewer rehabilitation equipment.

Investment in staff at the groups Bury St. Edmunds headquarters, has strengthened the sales, finance, transport systems and operations teams. Supporting the customer base has been vital to the groups success and will continue to be a priority moving forward.

Experience counts

A major strength of the group is its agreements with the water utility companies. For 35 years IWJS has been involved in this sector and has close working relationships with six water utility companies.
Dedicated systems with each client mean that vehicles and operators can be deployed within minutes to deal with or prevent an emergency.
The experienced operators and depot staff have seen most situations in the last 35 years enabling the right decisions and outcome to be achieved no matter the problem presented.

There is a lot more to the business besides the utility contracts

The IWJS group works with most of the major infrastructure companies for road, rail and building projects across the UK.
The tankering, jetting, CCTV surveys, GPR mapping and sewer rehabilitations services are used by a diverse range of organisations such as local authorities, the Highways Agency, the Environment Agency, inland drainage boards, schools, industrial concerns and domestic clients.
Industrial (tank and surface) cleaning and emergency spill response are other sectors that IWJS are actively involved in.
IWJS is also known for its road tunnel cleaning business, removing materials from tunnel walls that can be hazardous to road users. Having designed and built bespoke vehicle mounted equipment, IWJS has captured most of the UK market and some European business by offering a safer and quicker option to the road authorities.

The IWJS group is fully accredited, approved and insured to work within the utility, construction, road, rail, industrial and domestic sectors and takes the health and safety and environmental aspects of the industry very seriously.
The Bury St. Edmunds head office is also the location for the in-house training school for the operators. There are regular authorised training sessions for high pressure jetting and confined space courses, working closely with the Water Jetting Association.

To support its customer base the IWJS group now has eight operational depots around the country located in seven counties. Each depot has dedicated day and night shift operators and access to hundreds of specialist vehicles and bespoke pieces of equipment.
The experienced management teams track every vehicle movement and can respond instantly to a demand whether it is an emergency or planned maintenance situation. This genuine 24/7 service is available 365 days of the year.
