How to drive to work for free this Friday?
A motor vehicle specialist advises drivers that they can easily improve their fuel efficiency and performance by 20%.
Mike Walton, Managing Director of Rapid Remap – based in Hednesford, Staffordshire, is campaigning to raise awareness of the cost-cutting options available to vehicle owners:
“For the first time ever, new sales of diesel engine vehicles are outnumbering those of petrol engines and with fuel costs at an all-time high, it’s easy to see why. People are switching to diesel to keep their costs down, and ‘remapping’ is a simple way for drivers' to save even more money.”
By reprogramming the engine management software of your vehicle - or remapping, as it’s better known, drivers can make considerable savings on fuel costs.
Naturally, people expect vehicles to leave the factory setup to deliver the best performance and efficiency possible - in fact, they are not.
As vehicles are supplied to different markets all over the world, manufacturers provide a one-size-fits-all solution, in an effort to keep down costs.
Dr Nigel Eastmond, who recently had his vehicle ‘remapped’ at Rapid Remap echoes Mike’s advice, explaining:
“On the way to the workshop my car was doing 30.4mpg and on the way back it did 36.7mpg. Rapid Remap has worked wonders for the fuel economy of my Range Rover TD6. What’s more, the price was very competitive and the work only took an hour.”
With the ability to improve a vehicle’s fuel efficiency by 20%, remapping could equate to giving drivers one free day’s commute every week.
