Health is on the Menu at Local Charity Event
An award winning chef is to hoping to put health firmly on the menu by proving healthy eating can be quick, tasty and delicious, when he runs a special workshop in aid of Lister Hospital Children's Ward.
Local residents are invited to attend the event, which is being held at the Spine and Wellness Centre, located inside Active4Less Fitness Club on North Road, on Thursday March 24th between 7.30pm and 9.00pm.
At the event, former Welsh Chef of the Year and British Chef of the Year Finalist, Doug Windsor, will be demonstrating healthy cooking techniques and offering his expert hints, tips and recipe ideas to visitors.
Doug has been at the forefront of healthy cooking in Wales for over 19 years. During his career, Doug has worked with some of the best in the business, including Jean Christophe Novelli and Marco Pierre White.
His many awards include the prestigious Michelin ‘Bib Gourmand Award’, Dining out in Wales ‘Gold Award’, winning the AA Guides Most Creative Dish and being a British Chef of the Year Finalist. He is a qualified nutritionist and has an added interest in the work undertaken by the Spine and Wellness Centre, having recently begun studying to become a Doctor of Chiropractic.
Doug Windsor said: “Cooking healthy foods can be really exciting, but there is often a perception that it's boring 'rabbit food'. I'm going to be demonstrating how people can whip up some fantastic plates of food in no time at all, with some tasty ingredients that most people may be unaware of, and which are readily available in the supermarket.”
Dr Nabeel Alsaadi, Practice Director at the Spine & Wellness Centre, said: “We hope lots of local residents will join us at the Healthy Cooking event, to not only get inspiration from a leading chef, but to offer their support to a very deserving local charity.
“This event is part of a series of events we are planning to host at the Spine & Wellness Centre, to help local residents learn more about leading a healthy lifestyle and the benefits this can bring. 100% of the funds raised at our events throughout the year will go to the hospital charity appeal.”
Tickets cost £5 each, with all monies raised going to Lister Hospital Children's Ward, which is raising funds to complete redevelopment works. Anyone wishing to attend should call 01438 355 522 or email info@spineandwellness.co.uk.
