Guilt-free Chinese cuisine in Didsbury

A local restaurant has introduced a new menu to make Chinese food available as a healthy option.

Jenny Cui and Xiaona Liu, owners of Green Tea Restaurant, in West Didsbury, developed ‘The Menu Free From Guilt’ with the aim of distancing their food from the traditional image of Chinese cuisine as being deep-fried and fattening; proving that it can be very healthy without losing its taste.

The menu was developed with the input of local Personal Trainer, Michael Bach. When Xiaona approached Michael with the suggestion of making Chinese cuisine in the UK less fattening, they decided to come up with a menu to satisfy health-conscious diners and to show that authentic Chinese cooking is very simple and healthy.

Michael said:

“I get asked often about how to eat out when you are on a healthy diet, so when Xiaona mentioned creating a healthy menu for Green Tea, I was more than happy to get involved and offer nutritional advice.”

Every dish at Green Tea is freshly prepared, created using the freshest ingredients and packed with green vegetables. They only use sea salt, no artificial sweetening ingredients or cooking sauces, no sugar, no MSG and only use coconut or olive oil in all the healthy option dishes. They endeavour to source local, organic ingredients wherever possible.
