From Riches to Rags and Back Again

Business owners from across the UK, have been encouraged to ‘show off’, after attending the first in a series of master classes in Lancaster, designed to help them strengthen their bottom line.

At the event, which focused on setting goals and reconnecting with the passion and purpose originally held for a business, guest speaker and rags-to-riches success story, Jane Kenyon, spoke to attendees about her experiences of starting out.

Born into a wealthy family, Jane found herself homeless at the age of 16. For the next ten years, she followed a strategy of studying and climbing the corporate ladder. When she found herself hitting a glass ceiling, she was inspired to leave the safety of her job and start up on her own. By the age of 35 she’d started or grown ten successful businesses.

She now runs Well Heeled Divas, which creates female role models for young girls who mentor young women in school.

The workshop was the first in a new series of business master classes, run by private business school, Showing Off Academy. The next event in the series is being held on 12th April, and is a networking workshop, expected to attract between 50 and 100 regional business owners.

Joanne Allday, Event Organiser, said: “The event was a great success and we’ve had some fantastic feedback from delegates who have been inspired by Jane. Our aim is to bring leading business speakers to the North West, so local business owners don’t have to travel.
Jane really inspired delegates and it was a great way to kick off our master class series.”
