Free health courses for Coventry residents
A community interest company is offering self-management health courses free of charge to Coventry residents.
People suffering with conditions such as Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and any other recognised long-term health conditions can attend the courses being offered by Health Exchange
In partnership with Coventry Sports Trust an Open Day is being held on Saturday 18th September between 9am and 4pm at the main Sports Centre at Fairfax Street in the city centre.
A mobile health and wellbeing unit will be situated outside the main entrance, with trained staff available to offer blood pressure readings and body mass index calculations. All visitors are welcome to come along and take one of these simple health checks.
Patrick McCormick, Partner Relations Manager said: "Everybody is interested in being healthy and Health Exchange helps people to have the capability and confidence to exercise a positive choice for their health and wellbeing. By providing our services within local communities we make it easier for people to take action to manage their health".
In particular, people suffering from long-term health conditions are invited to come and talk in confidence to a trained member of staff. They will also be able to enroll for a short ‘Expert Patient Programme’ course that will help them manage their condition more effectively, and improve their sense of wellbeing and how they feel about themselves.
