Finance expert warns ‘act now or risk doing a Ramsay’
The MD of a leading business and finance consultancy in the Midlands, is urging business owners across the region to make solid finances top on their list of New Year’s resolutions this January.
Well-known chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay, recently suffered his own ‘Kitchen Nightmare’ when his company admitted it was facing financial problems.
But, according to Dominic Sears from Sutton Coldfield-based Suttongate Consulting, it isn’t just large corporations who should take note; entrepreneurs, SMEs and start-ups could also be risking their future.
Dominic explains: “Most business owners and leaders are experts in their field, so they understand their product or service; the customers and their industry. But what they are often less confident in, is finance and business management - and that can be their undoing.
“My advice is to heed the plight of Gordon Ramsay and start the New Year with a resolution to focus on your business and your finances. Stick to what you’re good at and get expert help where you need it, as an absence of financial management expertise could be harming your business’ ability to move forward and grow, and worse still, potentially lead to business closure.”
To help decision makers who are concerned about this issue, Suttongate has launched a new Business Improvement and Mentoring Program, designed specifically for new and inexperienced entrepreneurs and business owners.
The scheme offers general guidance and support surrounding issues of business finance and management and can include a health check of current systems and cash flow, business turnaround for companies in distress and Non-Executive Director services.
