Course Offers Secure New Future to Ex-Military Personnel
A training specialist in Wales is offering those leaving the armed forces, the opportunity to gain qualifications, to help them find work in the security industry.
Safe and Secure Training’s Close Protection course, is aimed at individuals with the qualities needed to be effective, and professional, in a role in the security industry.
The structured programme of training and education consists of seven units, including assessing and minimising levels of threats and risks to principals, establishing and maintaining secure environments, and responding to medical crises and conflict.
Whilst no specific qualifications or experience are needed to sign up, basic literacy and numeracy skills are essential.
The course involves 150 hours of guided learning, lasting three weeks, and successful candidates will leave with a City and Guilds and EdExcel accredited qualification. This then opens the door for successful participants to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence.
Safe and Secure Training is the only provider of Close Protection course in Wales. The course is held at the company’s new base, at Beechwood House in Newport, Gwent. Beechwood House provides a state-of-the-art £4.2 million refurbished training facility, within 30 acres of ground, and is the ideal location for professional training.
Safe and Secure Training started trading in 1993, delivering medical training to the military.
Now, Safe and Secure Training delivers training in close protection, door supervision, static guarding and conflict management. The company employs 12 staff, all of whom are ex-special forces, military police and paramedics.
