Community Fundraisers Go for Green
After a year of tireless efforts, residents and trustees are continuing to work for a greener future in Areley Kings.
In the 14 weeks since its installation, the impressive new solar energy system on the roof of the Areley Kings Village Hall, has produced 1613kwhs of energy, significantly minimising the building’s carbon footprint, and drastically reducing its energy bills.
The dedicated Friends of Areley Kings Village Hall have worked tirelessly to pull off a string of successful fundraising events, to cover the £15,000 initial outlay to fund the installation, and they have no intention of stopping any time soon.
A stunning £6500 has so far been raised, through numerous coffee mornings and ballroom dances, amongst other events. A Grand Raffle Prize Draw was the most recent fundraiser, where 25 prizes were up for grabs, totalling an estimated value of £1000.
The top prize of £200 was contributed by Eco2Solar, which completed the installation of Areley King’s solar energy system. Ryan Mee, Sales Director at Eco2Solar, along with the Deputy Major of Stourport, Gary Talbot, presented the grand prize to the raffle’s lucky winner, Sarah Bean at the hall last month.
“Eco2Solar were delighted to donate the top prize in the draw to display our continued support and commitment to this local project”, said Mr Mee.
Local groups such as The Women’s Institute, the ‘Wives’ and the Brownies, have also been vital in hosting events and generating contributions for the fund. In addition, Areley Kings Village Hall has welcomed donations from the ‘Pantomime Group’ and the ‘Choral Group’.
“We were staggered by the funds raised by the generosity of the Friends of Areley Kings. This clearly demonstrates the results that can be generated by a community who have a goal to achieve”, added Mr Mee.
Eco2Solar are a Midlands-based company, providing cost-effective solar solutions to organisations and individuals.
