CHINGFORD GETS CINEMATIC

The sparkle of showbiz came to Chingford this weekend when a brand new feature film was filmed opposite the Royston Arms pub.  Staff at the pub even found themselves in the limelight when manager Simon Howard and barman Callum Hurley landed cameo roles in the new drama.

‘Victim’ sees a country girl move to London and fall for a friend of her cousin who is living the high life off profits of crime. As she tries to make him see the error of his ways she makes some unfortunate enemies.  The Director, Alex Pilki, who has worked on big productions like the Bafta Nominated ‘Being Human’ and Flight, describes the film as ‘a closely observed character study… an urban story seen from the inside'.

Scriptwriters Ashley Chin (Cherry Tree Lane), Michael Maris (The Bill) and John Maza (Fish Tank, Shifty and Rise of a Foot solider) based the storyline on true events.

Filming began last week, and reached the Royston Arms early on Saturday morning. Manager Simon commented, "I've never been in a film before, it was great fun, though there was a lot of waiting around! It's fantastic that I will be featured in the film, I'm really looking forward to seeing it."
