Children spread the festive spirit
Pupils, their parents and the teaching staff, past and present, from Milbourne Lodge School, in Esher, gathered at Holy Trinity Church, Claygte, for their annual Carol Service on Wednesday evening.
The event was a huge success, despite the last minute drama that ensued when the school’s music teacher fell and broke her arm, leaving her unable to attend rehearsals. In the true spirit of Christmas, the other teachers and staff at the school rallied, to ensure that the evening went ahead, to its usual high standards.
Speaking after the service, Stephen Ilett, Headmaster said:
“This evening has been a really wonderful occasion. It was a lovely way to mark the end of a very busy term and to kick-off the Christmas celebrations”
The service was led by the Headmaster and school choir, who sang festive favorites, in addition to two new carols, specially written and composed by the absent music teacher. The younger children then ended the service, singing ‘Away in a Manager’ to their enchanted audience.
The evening finished with an array of festive refreshments, including mine pies, and mulled wine for the parents and staff. It was widely agreed that the evening marked a perfect start to the Christmas holiday.
