Children share festival cheer

LOCAL children celebrated Harvest Festival by delivering boxes of food to the elderly and homeless.

Big-hearted pupils from Long Close School, in Slough, made donations to Age Concern in Slough, Slough Homeless Our Concern, and Age Concern at the Langley Luncheon Club.

The Harvest boxes were on display at the Junior and Senior Harvest Festival Assemblies at the school, in Upton Court Road, where more than 200 parents joined their children in a celebration of singing, reflection, and thanksgiving.

The boxes were designed by pupils of all ages with help from their families at home. The older students in Year 11 produced a joint effort. The Harvest boxes were delivered to the charities on Wednesday 20th October by staff and two pupils - seven-year-old Ashley Hallett, in Year Three, and his brother, four-year-old Nathan Hallett, from the Reception Class.

Headmaster David Brazier said: “The boxes were all beautifully designed with a harvest theme. It was heart-warming to see pupils, young and old, celebrate harvest together with such spirit and enthusiasm and to give so generously to such deserving charities.”
