Charity Cycle Ride Rallies Business Support
Businessman Phil Watson is gearing up for the charity challenge of his life and hoping local businesses will support him in his quest.
The HR consultant from Lichfield is planning to complete a 90-mile bike ride from Walsall to Branston and back, via Cannock and Derby, in aid of Walsall Hospice. Rather than raising money for the hospice from sponsorship, Phil is hoping businesses will support the cause by hiring him for his HR expertise – creating a win-win situation for everyone.
“In these tough financial times I didn’t feel I could ask for sponsorship,” said Phil. “So instead I decided to donate 10% of fees earned from business I get as a result of any exposure from the bike ride, to the Walsall Hospice charity.”
“If I win business with the help of this charity event, the charity wins 10% of my fees earned and the customer wins too, as in effect they have donated.”
Phil Watson: HR Business Partner, who offers HR advice to companies, was inspired to support the hospice by Head Fundraiser Cheryl Bradburne and fellow businessman Graham Cornfield, who is organising the bike ride on Sunday 3rd April 2011.
“Completing this ride on a bike with no gears is going to be tough,” added Phil. “But all I am asking is for businesses that need support with their people management to pick up the phone or visit my website and support the hospice at the same time.”
