Charity Boxing Event Is A Knock-Out

Most armchair sports fans would love to change places with their heroes. The exception, though, must be in boxing! Not many sofa-bound sports fans would fancy putting their neck on the line by getting into the ring.

Despite that, White Collar Boxing is a growing version of the sport, where people with no previous boxing experience train to fight at special events.
One such charity event, in Swansea, last month raised nearly £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Support.

James Mackechnie, of Swansea-based 24sports.tv, wanted to raise awareness and funds for the cancer charity, following the loss of his friend, Daniel Andrews, to skin cancer earlier in the year.

The White Collar Boxing night at the Swansea nightclub, promoted by Funky Pump Fitness, was the perfect event.

James – who adopted the boxing nickname ‘The Kettle’ - put in the ‘hard hours’, by training and sparring almost every day for 12 weeks.

James also changed his diet, to make sure he was in tip-top shape, and the best fighting-fit condition.

James was greatly helped by sponsors from 24sports.tv, which operates a free online information service and provides a wide range of advice, support and general nutrition information.
