Charitable opening for new South Croydon convenience store
The opening of a major new store in South Croydon is set to bring cheer to local residents and help fill the coffers of a local charity. The new One Stop store, based on Brighton Road, just outside Croydon town centre, opened its doors to customers recently with a promise of being ‘the best for customers in the neighbourhood’.
The official opening of the new store was a fun filled occasion with balloons and a local clown on hand to keep youngsters enthralled and entertained.
Bosses at the new store also presented Steve Axon, Chairman at The Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders, with a cheque for £200.
The Diamond Centre, which this month celebrates 36 years of existence, is a registered charity which provides facilities to benefit disabled children and adults by having regular contact with the world of horse riding.
Economic boost:
The new store has also given the local economy a welcome boost after bosses hired 15 employees to run the new store which will serve more than 1800 local households.
The store, which will trade seven days a week, will open from 6am till 10pm. Facilities on offer for customers include a free external cash machine, E Top Up and Paypoint.
Gamil Annaakarage, Store Manager said: ”The official opening of our new store was a great success and we already have a great deal to be proud of. Not only did we keep the kids entertained, we have also made a real difference to an extremely worthwhile local charity. I am hopeful the opening of the new store will be the start of a great relationship between us and the local community.”
