Caring for a Loved One Begins at Home

When a relative begins to lose their ability to care for themselves, finding the right solution can be a daunting prospect.

Domiciliary (home) care can be an attractive prospect, enabling those who still wish to retain as much independence as possible to fulfil their wish. However, with a broad range of home care services available, choosing the right one can be a minefield.

In October 2007, a review commissioned by Leonard Cheshire Disability, reported that almost two-thirds of disabled people in a national survey, were offered very little support finding care services.

It found 61 per cent of those who were funding their own care did not know where to start looking for services. Research shows that even now, this is still the case.

This prompted the launch of a new, free and unique service, from KSB Care Limited, which comes as a welcome relief for those wishing to find home care within the West Midlands, whether for themselves, or for a relative who lives there. The firm personally matches the individual requirements of their clients with the service provided by an approved, specialist care agency operating within the region.

Lynne Smith, from KSB Care, said: “Selecting a healthcare provider is one of the most important decisions a family will need to make and the primary concern is always the loved ones’ happiness and wellbeing.

“Our list of care agencies has been fully vetted and all are registered with the Care Quality Commission, ensuring they are licensed to provide services”, she added.

All calls are handled by KSB Care’s fully trained staff, who will inform clients about the best agency to meet their needs, along with its rating by industry watchdog, the Care Quality Commission. There will also be monthly follow up calls, to ensure that the pairing of clients with service providers is successfully meeting their needs.
