Canute Medical acquires Lundy Healthcare in strategic deal

Medical logistics business Canute International Medical Services (CIMS) has acquired Lundy Healthcare for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition will deliver a number of strategic synergies that will enable the enlarged business to offer class-leading end-to-end services for customers in the medical equipment market.

CIMS, a subsidiary of the Canute Group, is a privately owned £80 million turnover business with global experience in a number of key markets.

Part of the Canute Group since 2005, CIMS has implemented a successful growth programme during the recession, developing significant experience in the mobile medical logistics market and pre-medical turnkey sector.

Commenting on the transaction, Guy Pomroy, Director at Canute, said: “Sadly, Lundy had been placed in administration and this was very much an eleventh hour involvement by Canute. Despite a hectic few days, we are particularly pleased that we have been able to keep the Lundy team together and integrate them into our merged business.

Guy Pomroy continued: “The Canute Group is committed to the long term future of the company and making the most of the skills and experience of the new team. We will be looking closely at the business to ensure that it is in good shape and properly structured to meet the demands of the industry.

“We can now offer all our customers, including those of Lundy Healthcare, a comprehensive service in pre-medical turnkey and a much wider range of services through CIMS. We are looking forward to developing the company into a truly international medical services provider within the Canute Group,” added Guy Pomroy.

Gary Foy, who joined CIMS as Engineering Manager from Lundy, added: “Having been involved in most aspects of medical engineering and white glove specialist handling for 20 years, I believe this merger is the best possible outcome.

“This is very much a merger of expertise and skill-sets, with CIMS already established as an industry leader in logistics, and continually building a coveted reputation in the industry. The feeling is very positive, with a renewed sense of stability which can only enhance the teamwork needed to service our clients.”
