Breakaway at Bredon Hill Bikeaway
For those who’ve been looking for the perfect excuse to dust off the bike helmet and pump up their tyres, here it is; the Bredon Hill Bikeaway is back.
Not only will cyclists have the pleasure of participating in a countryside ride through the beautiful autumnal landscape of Worcestershire, they’ll also be raising money for the ever-deserving Pershore division of St John Ambulance.
The charity fundraiser, which takes place on October 23, will be opened by Henry Sandon, from BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, and has something for everybody, with four routes on offer.
The Beginners’ Route is a leisurely 5.5 mile ride, the Lounge Lizards’ Route is an easygoing 9 miles, the Family Fun Route sees 16 miles of enjoyable cycling, while the Adventurers’ Route provides an enticing 47 miles of outstanding views of Bredon Hill and the surrounding villages.
The Bikeaway has proven to be hugely enjoyable and successful ever since its inception five years ago. As one of their major annual fundraising events, St John Ambulance hopes to trump last year’s impressive take of over £1500.
The Bikeaway commences on the 1400-acre country estate, Deer Park Hall, a superb location with exceptional views across the Malverns. Refreshments are provided en-route, and support vehicles will be on hand should they be needed. Lucky cyclists will then meander through the gorgeous open countryside of the Wychavon district, on one of the four Bikeaway routes.
St John Ambulance is a truly exceptional organisation, maintained by duty fees and fundraising alone. Even more extraordinary is that all members are volunteers, sacrificing their own time to save the lives of others. The money raised by the Bikeaway goes towards first aid materials and the provision of training programmes.
