Boutique announces support for John Galliano
Owners of the popular Notting Hill-based boutique, Nancy Pop, say they are backing the Galliano label despite his recent negative publicity.
The designer, recognised as one of the finest of his generation, has reportedly checked into a rehab clinic in Arizona pending a trial in Paris over complaints of offensive tirades.
News of the boutique's support follows an interview with US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who said the situation was "tragic".
After a mobile phone video emerged apparently showing Mr Galliano, saying: "I love Hitler", celebrities including Natalie Portman distanced themselves from the designer.
Nevertheless, his catwalk collection received rave reviews.
Also, the man who complained that he had been insulted by Mr Galliano, has since said he believed Galliano to be ill, rather than anti-semitic.
Nancy Pop buyer Ieva Pavilone said:
“We still believe that John Galliano is one of the world’s most gifted designers. His designs are fantastic and we would hate to lose such wonderful talent.
Saying this, we find no excuse for his Anti-Semitic comments - and in no way do we condone these remarks.”
"We hope John Galliano finds support for his work and gets well soon.” – Ieva added.
The boutique will offer bias cut dresses in all shades of pink to customers, and are notoriously hot property amongst London fashionistas.
Also, a beautiful range of printed dresses, sheer blouses and pleated skirts - from John Galliano’s SS11 collection - have been carefully selected to accommodate the sophisticated tastes of Nancy Pop clientele.
The pieces are expected to be snapped up, as Galliano clothes could become rare in the near future.
Other new additions to the Notting Hill store for Spring/Summer 2011, are a fabulous selection of shoes by Terry de Havilland - who recently received Draper's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Nancy Pop is also exclusively showcasing labels Calulla Lillibelle and Jules Reid – both featured in UK for the first time.
