Blackpool pub going for gold
The Saddle Inn, Blackpool, has attained Silver status in the Best Bar None Awards.
Manager, Janet Ingleson, entered the pub after hearing about the prestigious awards at her local PubWatch meeting. Expecting to do well, Janet never dreamt that her pub would attain the Silver award.
Recognised and awarded by Lancashire Police, the Best Bar None Awards look at certain criteria of the entrants and assess the pub’s overall safety. This includes the pub’s drug record, monitoring the amount of drunken customers, and checking the standards of the toilets and other facilities.
The awards set down a standard of operation for the management of licensed premises. Premises gaining accreditation under the scheme have been shown to exhibit higher standards of customer care and experience lower levels of crime and disorder.
Not only did the Saddle Inn rank amongst the highest in the county, award officials informed Janet that the pub was very close to getting the gold! This has spurred Janet on even more and she is striving to be the best in next year’s awards.
“I am delighted to have received the Silver award,” comments Janet. “I would like to thank all my staff at the Saddle Inn for their hard work and dedication.”
The official award ceremony and presentation to winners took place on 20 April at Blackpool Town Hall.
