To celebrate Farmhouse Breakfast Week, Beckett’s Farm Restaurant in Wythall is hammering home the importance of the first meal of the day with the return of the famous Belly Buster Challenge and hoping to raise cash for charity in the process.
The challenge is a lot to swallow for anyone and includes bacon, six sausages, four eggs, beans, toast, mushrooms sauteed potatoes, fried bread and hash browns – with just 20 minutes to gobble the lot.
Successful challengers will be entered into a draw to win a free family breakfast and an 'I beat the belly buster' t-shirt and for every adult breakfast purchased during the week, £1 will be donated to Breast Friends cancer support charity.
The challenge has been bought back as part of the national Farmhouse Breakfast Week, now in it’s 11th year, which runs from January 24 to January 30 and aims to promote the benefits of eating breakfast.

For those with less gargantuan appetites, Beckett’s Farm is the perfect place to procure tasty local produce fulfilling all those breakfast needs.
From fresh bread baked at the on site bakery, to fresh fruit and eggs at the greengrocers and quality meats including nine varieties of sausage stocked by the butcher, Beckett’s Farm Shop is a one stop shop for all breakfast needs.
The farm shop also boasts a deli offering 40 varieties of continental cheese and a wide variety of cold meats.
Beckett’s Restaurant is famed for it’s breakfasts, which are served all day, and cooked using modern convection cooking techniques with not a greasy plate in sight.
All are cooked to order using products from the farm shop, or sourced locally.
Amazingly, bringing breakfast to the people of Wythall each month would take a whopping 175kg of bacon, 200kg sausage, 1,000 free range eggs, 48kg tomatoes, 20kg mushrooms, 50 loaves, 125 tins of beans, 16 kg black pudding, 15kg of hash browns, 15kg of saute potatoes and 10kg of potato cakes.
Studies show people are more alert throughout the day after eating a hearty breakfast.
