PostCodeIt is an innovative new events website, designed to allow you to access information about local, national and even worldwide activities by simply entering a few details.
The brainchild of John Catton, PostCodeIt was born from John trying to find things for himself and his family to do at the weekend, as being a father to four is a demanding role!
"I got fed up of scrolling through endless websites and hunting through local papers," he said. "I suddenly thought what a good idea it would be if everything could be readily available on one website."
John wanted a site that would have it all, from a nice quiet night with his girlfriend to an energetic activity that would keep the kids busy of a weekend, but he also wanted something that was easy-to-use for everyone.
The site uses Google Maps to show exactly where the events are happening, which means no more flicking between two web pages. John admits that that part was not his idea though, but actually one from his children!
PostCodeIt is accessible for businesses both large and small, as well as people who are simply arranging a local event and want some support. For an initial outlay of just £20.00, you can post 12 events which can be local, national and even global - that's just £1.60 per event.
Several well-known charities have already made use of PostCodeIt, including the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and St Mary's Hospice, both of which have added events to the site.
"I hope that this service will be used world wide to help businesses market their events," added John. "By advertising online it is also reducing the carbon footprint of companies, so people can enjoy the goings-on in their area with a clean conscience!"
John also hopes utility companies will begin using the site, so users can also find out which local roads are being dug up and when.
