Aston Head Teacher Recognised as a Titan of Learning
A Birmingham Head Teacher has been recognised as an outstanding leader in education at a prestigious national awards ceremony.
Jason Smith, Head of Manor Park Primary School in Aston, won the Leadership in Education Award at the 13th annual Education Resource Awards.
The award came in recognition of the transformation he has made to Manor Park, part of the Titan Partnership, since taking on the Head Teacher post in 2006.
The entry faced scrutiny by an independent panel of 30 educational practitioners and was up against contenders from across the UK.
Mr Smith was delighted at just being nominated for the award, he said:
“When I was initially contacted about the nomination and subsequent shortlist for the category of Leadership in Education, I was both overwhelmed and humbled that someone, somewhere had recognised the transformation that has taken place in a relatively short time at Manor Park.”
The Head Teacher, who is also an educational consultant with Complect Limited, discovered he had won the award on the 18th March, and since that date has noticed an upturn in the spirits of the whole Manor Park community.
“The achievement of the ‘Leadership in Education Award’ has inspired and motivated the whole school community. Children, staff, governors, parents and carers have embraced the award and it has really acted as a ‘community glue;’ strengthening our aims and reinforcing our core purpose.
At Manor Park we now face the future with great pride and increased confidence because of this award. It is truly, the experience of a lifetime that will stay with me personally and professionally.” - added Mr Smith.
Manor Park Primary School in Aston is part of the Titan Partnership - based in the Handsworth, Aston, Lozells and Nechells areas of Birmingham’s inner city. Titan, an educational partnership, works with schools, colleges and universities to raise standards of attainment, achievement and to improve the life chances of young people.
