Accelerated Curriculum To Boost Pupil Success
Top marks are predicted for more students, as an independent school raises aspirations in the classroom.
Cranbrook, in Ilford, Essex, has announced its plans to introduce an enhanced, accelerated curriculum when the new school year begins this September.
Students in the core subjects will now be starting their GCSE examinations in Year 9, enabling them to achieve up to three GCSEs in each subject. Starting earlier means that pupils will have longer to study and achieve their full potential.
Teachers are now looking forward to building on Cranbrook’s reputation for inspiring and motivating its students to be the best they can.
Raising the bar is part of Head Teacher, Ivan Mulinder’s vision for the future and his determination to give students every opportunity to shine at all stages of their education.
Mr Mulinder said: “Children are entitled to an education that allows them to reach their full potential, which is the key aim of our accelerated curriculum.”
Cranbrook has also introduced Oxford University’s Read-Write Inc programme at Key Stage 1. This unique approach is designed to help children read and write from an earlier age than expected. Furthermore, pupils at Key Stage 2 will be training for their 11-plus examinations.
“At Cranbrook, we put excellence in teaching and traditional values at the heart of everything that we do. We pride ourselves on providing our students with a positive and enthusiastic environment, so that they enjoy going to school and learning,” added Mr Mulinder.
“There is a renewed vigour at Cranbrook, focusing on raising already high standards in the classroom,” he concluded.
Cranbrook, formed by the merger of Cranbrook and Glenarm Colleges, creating Cranbrook Grammar, Prep and Nursery, is an independent day school, catering for boys and girls aged 3 to 16.
